The 2017 Central Valley Stand Down

Wednesday, 20 September 2017 08:00 – Thursday, 21 September 2017 17:00
North Blythe Avenue 3585, Fresno, California, United States

Attention all Pro Bono Attorneys and New Volunteer Recruits: “VLSP Wants You!” to volunteer at the Central Valley Veterans Stand Down 2017. The Voluntary Legal Services Program (VLSP) of Central California Legal Services, Inc. (CCLS) conducts an annual free legal clinic for our valley’s veterans, many of whom are homeless or lack stable housing, and face other challenges as they struggle with the transition to civilian life. The free legal services at Stand Down are available to all eligible veterans, active duty, guard, and reserve members.

The 2017 Central Valley Stand Down is September 20 and 21 at the VFW Post 8900 (3585 N. Blythe Ave., Fresno, California 93722) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The annual event is organized by Central Valley Veterans. Stand Down provides vets with many services including educational and employment opportunities, clothing, hot meals, personal hygiene supplies, haircuts, assistance with VA claims, and the opportunity to apply for other community resources.

VLSP will host a free legal clinic at Stand Down on both days to provide services for eligible veterans and military service members. Volunteer attorneys are needed to assist with estate planning, criminal record expungement, and help answer general civil legal questions. Volunteers are needed for morning and afternoon sessions, both days. You may volunteer for a single session or more, depending on your availability. Donating just a few hours of your time at the legal clinic can make a significant difference in the lives of veterans who have already given so much for our country.

Volunteers are encouraged to register by Friday, September 15. However last-minute volunteers are welcome.
